I've been converting my CD collection to electronic format for years. This weekend, I decided to update my system to give me a quick, visual way to find the album I want to play, right from my desktop.
I describe the system, more or less, in the following slides. To see how my core MP3 processing system works, I have more slides
in this photo album. It's based on a data driven web app and a CD Ripping program and a couple of scripts. I just put in the CD, rip the tracks to MP3's and have my web application parse the CDDB file the ripping program generates. (I've long since abandoned the awful gold color, for the app.)
Maintaining the new addition to the system takes just a little extra effort, thanks to an Excel spreadsheet that queries the database and generates the HTML.
